When it comes to security on computers, there is always a debate on which application is the best. To help people in choosing the right one, I have decided to create a post in which users can review their favourite security application.

Please tell us what your favourite one is. The important thing however is to be honest - Tell us what you like about it, what you don't like - Your suggestions for improvements - what you think they should add to it. Tell us why it's your favourite to and why other users should try it.

I'll start on the next post with mine.

BitDefender Total Security 2010

Here is my favourite security suite
Pros
(1) Price isn't too bad - £44.95 - 3 computers for a year, although there's cheaper.
(2) Doesn't appear to slow down/lag my computer
(3) Has a game mode - allows you to play games online without receving annoying messages.
(4) Searches for updates - Finds out if any of your programs are out of date. Also does important and other windows updates.
(5) Can password protect - In other words you can password protect all settings - If someone tries to turn something off like the Firewall they need to type the password.
(6) Comes with an antiphising toolbar (Not sure if it works on all browsers).
(7) Apparently can detect new unknown threats (not 100 percent sure about that).
(8) Comes with tune-up features - removes uneeded files, uneeded left over registry keys, defrags registry.
(9) Comes with computer and online backup.
(10) Different layout choises - e.g. basic, advanced.
(11) Spam protection.
(12) Parental Control (If you need it).

Cons
(1) Occasionaly freezes and appears to turn itself of (this is still occasional but quite rare now).
(2) False Updates - Ocassionaly informs up to date programs are out of date (Haven't had any false ones for a few months now however).
(3) Sometimes keeps giving Windows updates that you've already instaled (Appears fixed).
(4) No Start Up Manager - seems kind of stupid not having one for a program that offers a number of PC tune up services.
(5) Has a program that can scan and remove duplicate files - Files that have multiple copies on your computer that seems to just do nothing, freezing (Haven't tried for a while so could be fixed).
(6) Ignored files get scanned - False positve files which are ignored occasionaly get scanned again on future scans.

What I've always wanted is a program suite that does the lot for me. It annoys me having to have multiple different applications for similar tasks, something that can often take up more space and also slow down your PC.

However using suites I've discovered them to be slow. But BitDefender seems to usually be fast on my machine while still protecting me. I reccomend if people want to be protected while still able to do power demanding tasks, to try it out.
