WOLFENSTEIN really rocks !!! One of the best game i played from a while !!!

Wolfenstein is probably one of the most well-known and important titles ever among hardcore gamers, though it's important to note that we're talking about the franchise as a whole and not this individual game when we say that. Not only were the original Castle Wolfenstein games solid stealth RPGs in there own right, but they went on to inspire id to make Wolfenstein 3D.

We all know (or should do anyway) where that lead to eventually, but it's not an exaggeration to say that Wolfenstein 3D was the grandfather of modern shooters and that without it we'd likely never have had games like Doom, Quake, or any of the games that they collectively made possible through their popularity and technological advances. Wolfenstein is legend, really.

The problem with legends though is that if you don't let them stay ageless then they'll easily fall behind the times and go flat. Had Wolfenstein been left alone after Return to Castle Wolfenstein then it would have endured and enjoyed the type of rose-tinted nostalgia that very few games ever receive. Instead, Wolfenstein has been kept alive and now the legacy is starting to wear thinner than a pair of old socks.

I've played some of the old ones - I understand how important it was but it didn't interest me. I love the original Dooms but found the first Wolfenstein was just random tunnels - I felt like getting lost in a maze and after playing it a few times i always give up.

I loved Return to Castle Wolfenstien and the new one was pretty good. Although the one problem I had is I had to cheat on the new one as i'd gotten so far and never recieved one of the things - that allowed you to shoot through the shields and I did not want to do it again. I always did wonder where deaths head had went in the last one.

Wolfenstein 3d was actually the first ever 3d video game too:

It looks similar graphic wise to Return To Castle Wolenstien which was good graphic wise if I am correct, at the time.

Interestingly, a gamer I know believes that one day we will get picture perfect realistic gaming. Do you agree, do you think that games will ever look like real life. The bloody games always get people complaining though, so do you think they will draw a line, to stop getting the ultimate stick - In other words those who complain at the violence in games will definitely complain even more if it is completely realistic.

Mmmm, well graphics are certainly getting there now. I don't think they'll draw the line. They can't really just shut down an entire industry due to a few complaints.

But I see what you mean, it's getting too realistic and addictive now. People are playing these games to experience a better life and escape real life, scary!
